Div Com Analyses Functioning Of Govt Dental College And Hospital

Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon Friday reviewed the functioning of Government Dental College and Hospital Srinagar in a meeting which was attended by Principal of the College, Dr Reyaz Ahmad and Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Qaisar and other concerned officials.

The meeting informed the Divisional Commissioner that construction of Government Dental College and Hospital has been completed at the cost of Rs 43 Crore.

It was also given out that construction of Boys and Girls Hostel buildings have also been completed this year at the cost of Rs 19 Crore while construction of separate library block is under progress and Rs 3.6 Crore have been released for the same.

The Divisional Commissioner was further informed that funds  have been approved for infrastructure development and work is under progress in various departments of the hospital.

Giving academic details about the college, the Principal said that 208 undergraduate students are on roll while 36 students are perusing post graduation in the College besides college has 50 house surgeons.

 He also said that two satellite Dental Clinics have been established in SDH  Tangmarg and PHC Sallar.

The meeting was told that as many as 144333 patients were treated in OPD section and 418 patients were treated in IPD section till December 2015.

The Divisional Commissioner was informed that the college and hospital has started Bio-Metric attendance system in 2014 and same has now been made functional after it was damaged in floods. He was also informed that Dental Camps are being organized by the college in Schools and far flung areas of the valley.(Agencies)
