Drug peddler arrested in Awantipora: Police

Jammu & Kashmir Police in Awantipora on Monday said to have arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

A Police Party of Police Station Pampore headed by SHO PS Pampore at a checkpoint established at Khankah Bagh Pampore, arrested a drug peddler identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat resident of Khankahbagh Pampore, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO).

During the search, 5.3 Kgs of Fukki was recovered from his possession. He has been shifted to the police station where he remains in custody, police said.

Accordingly, police said that a case under FIR number 103/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace,” police said
