Srinagar: The encounter broke out between militants and security forces on Friday morning in Hari village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to reports, security forces jointly launched the search operation in the area following the tip off about the presence of the militants in the area.
A police official told KNS that while moving towards the suspected spot, the militants hiding in the area opened fire on the forces which resulted in the gun battle.
Sources told Kashmir News service that 2-3 militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
This is the second encounter in last 72 hours in the south Kashmir. Earlier an encounter took place at Zanthar village of Khrew Pampore in which an army man, Policeman and a Militant was killed in the encounter.
Sources also added that the house has been razed down to ground by the forces where the militants are believed to be trapped.
A senior police officer has confirmed the encounter in the area and when asked about the recovery of any body at the encounter site, he said” the searche operation in the area is underway and no body has been recovered.
