Srinagar: Terming the statement of National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s unrealistic and unacceptable, Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir said that final settlement of Kashmir dispute is still pending.

In a statement to KNS, Jama’at spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali said the entire Jammu and Kashmir is currently divided into two parts and this partition took place against the wishes and aspiration of people.

He said, it was Maharaja Hari Singh who had acceded with India without knowing the wishes and feelings of Kashmiri people. “The Indian leadership like Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and others, that time assured Kashmiris that they will be given a chance to determine their future, he added.

He also said Kashmiris are demanding their right to self determination from the day one, but unfortunately these promises which were announced in public are denied so far. Spokesperson said, the statement of Dr. Farooq Abdullah is unacceptable in which he termed the partition as final.

Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir demands at this moment that both India and Pakistan should come forward and meet the real representatives of Kashmir and frame a program so that people of Kashmir get their basic right “right to self-determination” which guarantees peace, prosperity and development in the sub-continent.
