A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered against National Conference (NC) party member Mohammad Ashraf Ganie for allegedly breaching the model
code of conduct (MCC) during a public speech in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on
Satutday.
Ganie, a former Sarpanch, has allegedly used inflammatory language during a public rally at
Kachan.
“It is reported that a breach of MCC has occurred when a member of NC and former Sarpanch Mohammad Ashraf Ganai used the term assassination in his speech when addressing the public,” Nodal officer MCC Mushtaq Ahmad Simnani said in an order issued today.
The order said that “giving the gravity of this situation, it is recommended that stringent action be taken against the said person and an FIR be lodged against the culprit under the applicable laws
for promoting hatred through his speech and for violating the MCC”.
“A video has also been received from anonymous sources,” the order reads.
The legal proceedings are likely to be expected to follow as authorities will review the case for
further steps.
