Flight operations resumed at Srinagar Airport on Wednesday after remaining suspended for a day due to heavy snowfall, officials said.
A major snowfall on Tuesday had forced the cancellation of all flight operations at the airport.
Director Srinagar Airport, Javed Anjum, confirmed to UNI that flights resumed on Wednesday following an improvement in weather conditions.
Earlier, Srinagar Airport, in a post on X, said that the runway, taxiway, and apron had been cleared of snow and were ready for operations.
Kashmir experienced widespread snowfall on Tuesday, disrupting normal life and cutting off the Valley from the rest of the country. While flight services have resumed, the strategic Jammu–Srinagar National Highway continued to remain closed on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, night temperatures across the Kashmir Valley remained below freezing. According to the Meteorological Department, Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 0.1°C, while Gulmarg and Pahalgam—popular tourist destinations—registered colder nights at–9.8°C and –6.4°C, respectively. Kupwara and Kokernag also witnessed sub-zero temperatures at 0.7°C and –2.6°C.
Fresh snowfall was reported in higher reaches over the past 24 hours, with Kokernag receiving 39 cm, Pahalgam 23.4 cm, and Gulmarg 8.9 cm of snow. Srinagar recorded 2 cm of snowfall during the same period.
The Meteorological Department has forecast another wet spell in the region from February 1 .
