Former Employees of Jammu and Kashmir Industries department have petitioned Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the Managing Director to release their pending arrears and leave salaries stating the ‘small amount can help the retired employees live the remaining days of their life comfortably.”

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), one of the former employees of J&K Industries, Ghulam Qadir Rather said it’s been three years since they were promised early release of their arrears and leave salaries post their retirement. “There are scores of employees who are at the age of 65 and some are about to touch 70 years of age. For every employee post retirement, arrears and leave salaries are the only support. But we have been hearing promises only since past three years. We urge the LG Sir and also the MD J&K Industries to release our pending arrears and leave salaries before Eid-ul-Adha,” he said.

A group of former employees of J&K Industries also said that they are desperately waiting to get their pending arrears and leave salaries. “We don’t even have money to buy medicines. We are totally dependent on our children for even a single tablet of headache,” they said.

They said that during the past few years, some “influential people” were given arrears and even leave salary allowance as well while the majority were left out. “We are now hopeful that we will be given arrears ahead of Eid-ul Adha,” they said
