Geelani Calls for Peaceful Protests on Friday Against ‘Unnecessary Harassment’, Detentions

Hurriyat (G) on Wednesday appealed for peaceful protests after the Friday prayers to protest the detention of youths.

The protests should be held against “unnecessary harassment and detention of the Palhallan youths,” a statement issued here quoted Chairman Syed Ali Geelani as saying.

“Geelani sahab also appealed for peaceful protest demonstration after the Friday prayers against the continuous detention of the Hurriyat leaders Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Ayaz Akbar, Raja Mehraj-ud-din Kalwal, Hafiz Abdul Ahad Sopore, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat, Rayees Ahmad Mir Bandipora, Abdul Gani Bhat Sopore and Mir Hafizullah Islamabad and against the ill-treatment of the Kashmiri detainees in the Tihar Jail Delhi,” added the statement.
