Srinagar: Scores of Hari Singh High Street shop owners Wednesday stated protest against the government’s decision to relocate their shops. The protesters were demanding the government to rescind its decision.

Holding banners displaying ‘we want Justice’, the protesters were protesting under the banner of Hari Singh High Street Traders Association.

While talking to KNS, Ali Muhammad, an association member said that the government has announced to relocate our shops but the one sided decision is not unacceptable to them.

“We have spent our life in this market and now the government is trying to make our life miserable by issuing such kind of decisions. Why should we go to the other place when we are happily surviving in this market?” Ali questioned.

He said that that with the relocation of their shops they are supposed to lose everything. “It will take our half life to find shoppers at the new place, which can give hardships in our life,” he said.

He said that until the government won’t change its decision they will keep protesting.

They said that they have approached several higher ups in this regard but so far all their requests have fallen on deaf ears.

The shopkeepers observed a complete shutdown and asked the state government to take favorable decision which will accommodate their aspirations. (KNS)
