Bandipora: Bandipora Forest Division has seized a tipper bearing registration no. JK 05A 3843 loaded with illicit forest produce, Tripatri, which was concealed under the pile of sheep and goat hides.
“The vehicle was ferrying load from Gurez and was on way to Bandipora. The total quantity seized is 4 gunny bags equal to 78Kg which has worth lakhs in market,” DFO Bandipora Irfan Rasool said.
He said two culprits have been nabbed on the spot who have been identified as Mohammed Ismail of Bandipora, driver of the vehicle and Mohammed Aaqib of Gurez, conductor of vehicle.
“Both have been arrested by the police and an FIR has been registered in the case and further investigation is ongoing.”
Range officer Gurez Sajid Rasool and Range officer Control Room, and Mohammed Maqbool were part of the team led by the DFO Bandipora.
“Police police fully cooperated in with us and provided necessary escort to forest team which seized the contraband forest product,” he said. (KNS)
