US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is neither a ‘rapist’ nor a ‘paedophile,’ while referring to remarks made by the gunman who attacked the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner on April 25.
‘I am not a rapist…I am not a paedophile,’ Trump said in an interview with 60Minutes programme (CBS News).
He also rebuked the interviewer by calling her a ‘disgrace’ and said she (the interviewer) should be ‘ashamed’ of herself for asking question about something that a ‘sick’ person (the attacker) had written.
The interviewer read out a line from the attacker’s ‘manifesto’ which said it was his duty to target Trump administration officials.
‘And I am no longer willing to permit a paedophile, rapist, and traitor to coat my hands with his crimes. (Well, to be completely honest, I was no longer willing a long time ago, but this is the first real opportunity I’ve had to do something about it)’’ according to the attacker’s ‘manifesto.’
The ‘manifesto’ said ‘I would still go through most everyone here to get to the targets if it were absolutely necessary (on the basis that most people *chose* to attend a speech by a paedophile, rapist, and traitor, and are thus complicit) but I really hope it doesn’t come to that.’
The interviewer while reading out the lines from the ‘manifesto’, asked Trump for his reaction.
A calm looking Trump said ‘I was waiting for this. I knew you would ask this because you are horrible people, horrible people.’
‘I am not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody,’ Trump said. He was interrupted by the interviewer who asked ‘you mean he was referring to you.’
‘I am not a paedophile. You read that crap from some sick person. I got associated with stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was exonerated. Your friends on the other side were involved with it, let’s say Epstein or other things.’
‘You should be ashamed of yourself. I am not any of those guys. You shouldn’t be reading that in 60Minmutes. You are a disgrace,’ Trump said in the one-on-one interview.
