Indigo cancellation cases drops on Tuesday, but normalcy is still away

Although the number of cancellations reported by Indigo has reduced to 200 on Tuesday, passengers continued to face issues in various cities around the country.


Chennai airport taking to social media platform X in the morning informed that there were 18 departure cancellations of the Indigo flights, while 23 with regard to the arrivals, up to around 8 am.


According to sources, there were multiple cancellations at the Bengaluru and Hyderabad airport as well.


As per reports, Bengaluru airport reported the highest cancellations of 121 flights on Tuesday, followed by 58 in Hyderabad and 41 in Chennai.


Similarly, at Ahmedabad airport, with regard to the disruptions, a total number of cancellations up to 0800 hours stood at 16, that included nine arrivals and seven departures, and regarding flights operated, they were a total of 23, with seven arrivals and sixteen departures.


As per sources, there were no issues reported in the terminal and passengers facilitation was taken care of.


Several airports and the administration have been on their toes to manage and help out the passengers who were affected by the disruptions.


Meanwhile, sharing a status update on Monday, the airline claimed they have restored their network with around 90 per cent on time performance.


As per the carrier, Rs 827 crore has been refunded, while remaining are under process, for the cancellations up to December 15.


The airline also said it is extending support to the passengers regarding hotels, transportation and other logistics.


IndiGo on Monday had responded to a notice issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), saying it “deeply regrets” the inconvenience caused to the thousands of passengers due to disruptions in flight operations and other services.


IndiGo submitted its formal response to the DGCA with the reply signed by both the airline’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, were submitted on Monday at 6:01 pm.


In its response, IndiGo expressed “profuse apologies” and deep regret for the inconvenience caused to passengers.


It also said that given the complexity and vast scale of operations, it is “realistically not possible to pinpoint the exact causes” immediately and requested additional time to conduct a comprehensive Root Cause Analysis (RCA), which will be shared with the DGCA once completed.


Meanwhile, the aviation regulator has reported to have cut Indigo’s flight schedules by 5 per cent which will reduce 115 schedules in number terms as Indigo has an approved weekly schedules of 14,158 flights for the winter schedule commenced on October 25, 2025.
