With the beginning of spring, thousands of tourists are in Kashmir enjoying flower bloom and cold breeze when mercury in other parts of the country is rising day by day.
The moderate temperature of the Valley is turning out as the biggest attraction post covid19 pandemic. At every place after years tourists are visible and most of the hotels are booked or have advance booking which is an encouraging sign for the tourism industry of the J&K that has seen many ups and downs especially in the past three to four years.
If official estimates are believed the number of tourists visiting J&K has already crossed two lakh and with the opening of Asia’s largest Tulip garden more and more tourists are heading towards Kashmir. On Sunday thousands of locals and tourists thronged to gardens in Kashmir especially the Tulip garden which is becoming a big tourist hub.
Even the arrival of tourists from various places of the country have increased manifold. On Sunday the Srinagar international airport handled 90 to and fro flights with more than fifteen thousand passengers handled making it a busiest day in the history.
The officials are optimistic the number of tourist arrivals will go further up and could be a game changer for the otherwise ailing tourism industry of J&K. On its part the government has taken a slew of measures and launched promotional campaigns to attract tourists towards Kashmir and efforts of the government seems to get good response.
Even to attract more tourists towards Kashmir the instrument landing system at Srinagar airport is designed to function at the visibilities of more than 1000 meters however new ILS is being installed that will help in night flights.
To overcome low visibility, a CAT II ILS system will be installed from next month. The installation will commence in April and the system will be ready for commissioning in October.
The visibility threshold with the new system will improve to 500 meters after commissioning of the new ILS system. The airport has state of the art landing and navigation facilities. And we continuously strive for their improvement in line with the increase in traffic.
The government is investing about Rs 1,500 crores in constructing a new terminal building and six more aircraft parking stands so that people can continue to ensure a delightful travel experience.
These measures can be encouraging for the tourism sector and J&K could again become tourist hot spots of the country because it has everything for which people from the country turn towards foreign destinations.
