Iran’s judiciary chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei on Tuesday asserted that the country must maintain “100% readiness” in anticipation of a possible new US military action and warned of retaliation over the seizure of an Iranian-flagged vessel in the Gulf of Oman, according to Iranian state-affiliated media.
Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, speaking in a video published by the Fars News Agency, said there was a “strong possibility” of further attacks and accused Washington of failing to achieve its objectives in past confrontations.
“The arrogant enemy launched an existential war… but failed to achieve its goals,” Ejei said, according to the footage, adding that Iran must remain fully prepared against what he described as potential renewed “aggression.”
Fars also reported that Ejei described the seizure of an Iranian-flagged commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman as a “violation” of a ceasefire agreement, saying Tehran would respond to what he called US “mischief” and “violations.”
He further said Iran would respond to what he described as a US naval operation involving boarding and disabling the ship, calling it unlawful and “a war crime.”
Iranian authorities have repeatedly warned of heightened regional tensions in the aftermath of recent confrontations involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, though accounts of specific military exchanges vary between the parties.
