Acting on the directives from the Jammu District administration, illegal structures constructed on state land were demolished in Marh area here in the city outskirts.
An official said that Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Avny Lavasa had issued the directions following which a demolition drive was conducted on encroached Government Land at Chak Kalasay under the supervision of Sub-District Magistrate, Rajeev Khajuria.
A big concrete structure raised illegally on 8.14 Kanal State land was demolished with the assistance of a police party.
The Drive was conducted in continuation to the policy of LG Administration of zero tolerance towards encroachments on State lands in the UT of J&K and sent a stern message to encroachers to abstain from such illegal/criminal acts in future.
The illegal concrete structure was raised during late night hours.
“After repeated communications by SDM Marh through Revenue Officials and prominent citizens for the last one week, the encroachers constructed an illegal structure, which led to demolition operation”, the Revenue officials said.
Such demolition drives to free the State land in Marh shall continue in future also, they added.
They said that the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu has already issued clear cut instructions to all SDM’s and Revenue Officers to deal strictly with the encroachers and make all out efforts to retrieve the illegally encroached State land in all Sub Divisions and Tehsils of Jammu.
