Jammu’s Dogra Art Museum hosts exhibition on rare manuscripts

Jammu, April 18 (UNI) The Dogra Art Museum, Jammu, on Monday celebrated the World Heritage Week with vigour and enthusiasm. The occasion was celebrated under the aegis of Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museum Jammu and Kashmir. The World Heritage Day is observed globally on April 18 to celebrate and spread awareness about art, culture and heritage of a place.

This year, a special exhibition was organised on rare manuscripts in Devnagri, Sharda, Persian and Gurmukhi Scripts by the Department. Mahabharata, Samvat 1853 (weighing 22 kg), Roop Bhawani Rahashyopdesh (Sharda Manuscript) were the special attractions of the exhibition. A number of schools andcolleges of Jammu were invited to come to the museum for familiarisation and awareness about Dogra Art and Culture.

The children were taken for a guided tour of various galleries of the museum and made aware of history and significance of various art objects by well trained guides. The event was supervised by Sangeeta Sharma, Assistant Director Archives, Archaeology and Museum, Jammu.
