The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday trapped and arrested “Mudasir Ahmad, a Postal Assistant at the Sub Post Office Bandipora, for demanding and accepting a bribe of 6,500 from a beneficiary of the PMEGP scheme”.
According to an official statement issued to news agency KINS ACB said that, “a resident of Bandipora approached the ACB with a written complaint, alleging that Mudasir Ahmad demanded a bribe for processing the release of the subsidy amount under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). The complainant had already received the loan from the bank for his unit related to Mobile and Electronic Equipment, but the subsidy release required a physical inspection by the postal office.
Refusing to pay the bribe, the complainant reported the matter to the ACB. After a preliminary verification, the bureau found sufficient grounds to proceed and registered FIR No. 05/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at ACB Police Station Baramulla.
Subsequently, a trap was laid, and Mudasir Ahmad was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount of ₹6,500. He was immediately taken into custody following due legal procedures.
The ACB confirmed that further investigation in the case is underway”.(KINS)
