J&K: Army opens fire on seeing suspicious movement along LoC in Rajouri

Alert Army troops early morning on Wednesday opened fire on seeing a suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Sunderbani sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.

“Troops deployed in the forward areas resorted to a brief firing on seeing a suspicious movement in the Sunderbani sector,” said official sources.

“Terrorists movement is apprehended close to the border but troops are keeping a close watch and surveillance,” they said.

On February 16, the Indian army troops effectively retaliated to the firing by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control in Gulpur sector of Poonch district.

On Feb 14, an army jawan sustained injury in a sniper shot suspected to be fired from across the border in the Keri area of Akhnoor sector.

On Feb 10, an army jawan sustained a bullet injury in suspected firing from across the border in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.

On Feb 8, Indian troops effectively retaliated to the firing by suspected terrorists along the Line of Control in Rajouri district.

On the intervening night of February 4 and 5, a major infiltration bid was foiled when a group of suspected terrorists believed to be killed in a landmine explosion on the Line of Control in Battal area of Krishna Ghati Sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district.

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the security scenario in Jammu Division.

The Lieutenant Governor said that focus should be on complete wipe-out of terrorism from Jammu Division.
