A Border Security Force (BSF) constable died in a fire incident in the Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir late Sunday night, officials said.
The fire broke out in a BSF barrack in the Madar area of Bandipora at around 2:30 am, completely destroying the wooden structure.
The BSF constable, identified as Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Jalandhar in Punjab, was inside the barrack at the time of the incident and could not save himself. He succumbed to burn injuries, officials said.
The body was shifted to the District Hospital Bandipora for medico-legal formalities.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident.
