Continuing its statewide wide initiative “Positive Youth Development” JK Centre for Peace and Justice Foundation (JKCPJ) on Thursday organized a student outreach programme on mental health at Govt High School Nussu Anantnag under the guidance of Director Mr. Nadir Ali.
JKCPJ Mental Health Counselor Syed Manaal Andrabi briefed the students about the importance of good mental health and gave them practical suggestions to counter the issue. “Professional help is required if you experience changes in personality, eating or sleeping habits, inability to cope with daily stressors, withdrawal from routine activities, prolonged sadness, lack of focus, self harm or suicidal ideation for more than 2 month. Early prevention can help save lives”, she said. Students highlighted their mental health issues and received help from our counselor.
Principal Govt High School Nussu, Mr Abdul Rashid Koka hailed JKCPJ for conducting such sessions and promised support in organizing such events that boost the overall development of the students.
Director JKCPJ Mr Nadir Ali highlighted that Curiosity, Criticism and Creativity are important for anybody to envision a bright future. He promised moral and infrastructural support to the students of GHS Nussu.
Research Associate JKCPJ Shahjhan Mustafa presented a brief overview of initiatives led by JKCPJ. “We work for positive youth development by providing them space and opportunities to contribute to a peaceful, sustainable and developed society” , he said.
On the occasions students and teachers also highlighted some infrastructural issues at GHS Nussu. JKCPJ promised them to fulfill the demands.
