The Jammu and Kashmir government has disengaged three employees of the Jal Shakti Department over their alleged involvement in anti-national and subversive activities, officials said on Tuesday.
The employees include Liyaqat Ali Bhagwan, a need-based casual labourer (NBCL) and a resident of Bhagwan Mohalla, Huller in Kishtwar district; Kousar Hussain Bhagwan, also an NBCL, resident of Hunjala in Kishtwar district; and Showkat Ahmad Zargar, a daily rated wager (DRW) from Iqbal Mohalla, Bijbehara in Anantnag district.
According to separate government orders issued by Financial Commissioner (ACS), Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra, on March 9, the action was taken in the interest of administration following references from the Home Department and the registration of criminal cases against the individuals under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
As per the orders, Liyaqat Bhagwan has been named in an FIR registered under various sections of the UAPA, which relate to allegations of involvement in terrorist acts, conspiracy to commit terrorist acts, harbouring terrorists and membership or support of a terrorist organisation.
Officials said after completion of the investigation, a chargesheet was filed under the Act and the case is currently under trial.
Similarly, Kousar Bhagwan has also been named in the same FIR registered under various provisions of the UAPA for alleged involvement in terrorist activities and related offences. Authorities said that following investigation, a chargesheet was filed and the case is currently under trial.
Meanwhile, Showkat Zargar was booked in an FIR under various sections of the Arms Act and other sections of the UAPA. The case pertains to allegations of attempted murder, possession of illegal arms, and involvement in terrorist acts and conspiracy.
Officials said that after the investigation was completed, a chargesheet was filed under the Arms Act and sections of the UAPA, and the matter is currently under trial.
The orders state that the disengagement of the three employees has been carried out with immediate effect in the interest of administration.
