Police issues advisory on temporary restrictions on VPN usage in Ganderbal

After Kupwara and Shopian, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district have ordered a suspension of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services for two months, citing security concerns.

According to Kulgam Police, the Deputy Commissioner has imposed the ban with immediate effect in the interest of maintaining public order and ensuring security. The order notes that the potential misuse of VPN services could hinder lawful monitoring and pose risks to public safety.

Police have urged residents to strictly comply with the directive and cooperate with the district administration. Authorities warned that any violation of the order will invite strict legal action under relevant laws.

The police appealed to the public for cooperation in maintaining peace and security in the district.

The authorities in Jammu and Kashmir have stepped up action against the use of VPN services and already banned in north Kashmir’s Kupwara and south Kashmir’s Shopian districts in the union Territory.

Several districts in Jammu region have already imposed the ban on VPN services .
