Continuing its sustained drive against drug trafficking, J&K police have arrested a drug peddler in Shopian and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
A police party from Police Post Keegam during naka checking at Haji Check crossing intercepted a suspicious person. During search, charas like substance weighing approximately 896 grams were recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Shamim Ahmad Bhat resident of Poterwal Keegam. He has been arrested and accordingly, a case FIR No. 275/2025 under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian and investigation has been initiated.
J&K Police remains firmly committed to eradicating the drug menace from the district and appeals to the public to cooperate by reporting any information regarding drug peddling or other anti-social activities to the nearest police station.(JKNS)
