J&K: Police solve burglary case in Budgam, 2 arrested

Police on Tuesday solved a burglary case by arresting two accused people involved in the commission of crime and recovering stolen property from their possession in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Police on Tuesday said that Police post Humhama received a complaint on June 23, 2024, from Asrar Gul, resident of L D Colony Sanat Nagar, stating therein that on June 15, 2024, he hired a lady for cleaning services at his residence in anticipation of Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, during which he suspected that she had stolen some gold ornaments from the house.

Accordingly, a case under FIR No 244/2024 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Budgam, and an investigation was initiated.

During the course of the investigation, the alleged lady, identified as Ruby Begum, a resident of Gogipora Kanihama Nowgam, was brought for questioning.

During the questioning, she confessed her involvement in the theft, leading to the partial recovery of the stolen gold items. She also disclosed that she had sold some of the stolen jewelry to a goldsmith, Parvaiz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Tailbal Road, Rashi Mohalla Shalimar, Srinagar.

Both the accused persons were arrested, and stolen gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs. 4 lakh were recovered from their possession, the police said, adding that further investigation of the case is going on.
