J&K: Property of drug peddler attached in Kulgam

The property of a drug peddler was attached in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, police said on Wednesday.

They said a double-story residential house and cowshed measuring 1291.48 square feet valued at Rupees twenty-five lakh sixty-two thousand four hundred twenty-five and 1139.5 square feet valued at Rupees six lakh seventy-eight thousand eight hundred three, respectively, belonging to notorious drug peddler Bashir Ahmad Khanday of Nippora Kulgam, were attached under Section 68-F(2) of the NDPS Act 1985.

“The property was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of the investigation and inquiry conducted by Kulgam police. The property was prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances by the owner,” a police statement said.

“The said drug peddler is involved in Case FIR number 148/2022 of Police Station Qazigund,” it added.

Police said, “This action reaffirms the commitment of Kulgam Police to combat the drug menace.”
