Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) on Saturday conducted raids at two locations in Kashmir in connection with the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) threat posters that had appeared in the Nowgam area of Srinagar in October.
The investigation into the case had earlier led the police to bust an major interstate white-collar terror module of JeM–Ansar Ghazwatul Hind (AGH), which was cracked last month and is believed to be involved in the Red Fort blast.
Investigation into the Red Fort probe indicates that the incident was the handiwork of the same “transnational and interstate” module.
Officials said the SIA, which recently took over the Jaish poster case from the J&K Police, is carrying out searches in Srinagar and Ganderbal districts.
In Srinagar, a raid was carried out at the residence of Tufail Niyaz, who was arrested by the SIA and is accused of providing the weapon later recovered from a locker belonging to one of the accused doctors at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag.
Niyaz was the first person to be arrested by the SIA after it began investigation of the case
A simultaneous raid is being conducted in Ganderbal district as part of the ongoing probe.
Earlier this week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted simultaneous raids at eight locations in Kashmir as part of its investigation into the Red Fort blast in Delhi.
