Intensifying their crackdown, Jammu and Kashmir Police today conducted raids across several districts, targeting the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) members and institutes.
The political religious group Jamaat has been banned since 2019.
Police said major raids were carried out in Kulgam, Anantnag, and Budgam districts to “dismantle the terror ecosystem and separatist propaganda of the proscribed organisation.”
In Kulgam, police said they conducted meticulously coordinated searches at multiple locations across the district, targeting individuals and premises linked to the banned Jamaat, proscribed under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
During the searches, a significant quantity of electronic gadgets, literature, and documents suspected to be relevant to ongoing investigations were recovered, police said.
All recovered materials were seized on the spot and taken into custody for detailed scrutiny.
Similar raids were conducted against Jamaat in Anantnag.
Police said extensive raids were carried out at the residential premises and other locations linked to JeI members and their associates as part of the ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem and its support structures. Anantnag Police reaffirm its commitment to act firmly against all elements and organisations found.
In central Kashmir’s Budgam, Police launched various searches and raids at the residences and institutes linked to JEI.
“Searches were carried out based on credible intelligence that some JEI members are engaged in anti national activities,”: police said
The searches were carried out in Chadoora, Soibugh and Beerwah area of the Budgam.
“Searches were conducted by following due procedure of law,” police said.
