The Kashmir valley continues to experience hot and humid weather conditions, with no respite in sight for the next two days, officials said.
Director of the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar, Mukhtar Ahmad, said that the weather will remain dry, hot, and humid until July 26
On Thursday, the day temperature soared to 34.5?C in Srinagar, which is 4.6?C above normal for this time of year. Other parts of the valley also recorded high temperatures, ranging from 30-35?C.
However, there is hope for relief.
Ahmad predicted that the weather would turn cloudy with a possibility of light rain on July 27-28, followed by a significant drop in temperature on July 29. There is also a chance of moderate to heavy rainfall in some places until August 3.
The current humidity levels are causing discomfort in the valley, but a major relief is expected in the coming days, starting from July 27.
The Jammu division can also expect relief from the heat and humidity around the same time.
On Thursday, Konibal recorded the highest temperature in the valley at 36.2?C, followed by Kupwara at 35?C. Other temperatures recorded on Thursday include Pahalgam at 29.3?C, Kokernag at 32.7?C, Gulmarg at 24.8?C, and Qazigund at 33.0?C.
