Kashmir’s Mirwaiz Barred From Addressing Friday Gathering At Grand Mosque

Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was on Friday barred from addressing worshippers at the historic Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar.
“This reflects the total highhandedness of the government. The authorities are not allowing me to perform my religious duties,” the Mirwaiz told media.
He requested the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) to intervene into this “serious issue”.
The top religious leader has been continuously under house arrest since last week, soon after he returned from New Delhi.(Agencies)
