Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended the Birth Centenary Celebrations of renowned writer Shrilal Shukla in Lucknow, honoring his literary legacy and deep insights into rural India’s social and political landscape.
Speaking at the event, LG Sinha described Shukla as a writer whose wisdom transcends time. “Once in hundreds of years, a few writers attain the wisdom made available by existence. Shrilal Shukla was one of them. His writing is truly a light on the path,” he said.
Highlighting the impact of Shukla’s seminal works, including Raag Darbari, the Lieutenant Governor noted that his satire, ideas, and imagination continue to inspire self-reliant villages and a developed India. “His words, soaked in experience, are eternal. Raag Darbari has become ingrained in our consciousness,” he added.
LG Sinha emphasized the transformative power of literature, stating, “Books act as powerful inner eyes, offering glimpses into the world of knowledge and wisdom. Writers provide us the opportunity to think, expand our perspectives, and gain cognitive insight.”
He also lauded Shukla’s role in societal awareness, remarking that his writings continue to serve as a guiding force for reform and development. “His words remain more powerful than any other presentation,” he said.
The event was also attended by JPS Rathore, Minister of State for Cooperative, Uttar Pradesh; Dileep Sanghani, Chairman of IFFCO; and Dr. U.S. Awasthi, Managing Director of IFFCO, who paid their tributes to the legendary writer.
Bollywood actors Pankaj Tripathi and Ashok Pathak recited an excerpt from Raag Darbari, adding to the literary fervor of the occasion.
An exhibition dedicated to Shrilal Shukla’s life and works was also inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor, marking a fitting tribute to one of India’s most celebrated literary figures.(KINS)
