Moderate to heavy rainfall lash Kashmir; Baramulla records highest precipitation

 The Meteorological Centre Srinagar (MeT) has issued a fresh weather forecast for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting light to moderate rain and snowfall in the coming days.

The MeT forecast, as reported by the news agency Kashmir Independent News Service (KINS), said that the region witnessed widespread light to moderate rain and snowfall during the past 24 hours, while isolated areas experienced heavy rain and snow.

Forecast for the coming days: January 28: Light rain or snowfall is likely at a few places.

January 29–31: Weather is expected to remain generally dry, though skies may turn cloudy towards the evening of January 31.

February 1–2: Generally cloudy conditions with light to moderate rain or snowfall at scattered to fairly widespread places.

February 3–6: Partly cloudy weather is expected, with a possibility of moderate to heavy rain, snowfall, or thunderstorms at a few places.

Travellers and transporters have been advised to check road and highway conditions with the concerned traffic authorities and strictly follow administrative advisories.

Farmers have been advised to suspend farm operations till January 28.

People living in snow-bound higher reaches are advised not to venture into slippery and avalanche-prone areas.

The situation will continue to be monitored, and further updates will be issued as required, the MeT office said. (KINS)
