Colombo/New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka on Thursday expressed hope for political stability in the island nation and said it looks forward to working with the new government under Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The High Commission also said that India’s commitment to the people of Sri Lanka will continue.
“High Commission of India hopes for political stability and looks forward to working with the Government of Sri Lanka formed in accordance with democratic processes pursuant to the swearing in of Hon’ble @RW_UNP as the Prime Minister of #SriLanka.
“#India’s commitment to the people of #SriLanka will continue,” it said in tweets.
UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe was in the evening sworn in as the prime minister of Sri Lanka, following the resignation of Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday.
