 Virtually kickstarting the BJP’s campaign for the ensuing Lok

Sabha polls in this Kongu Region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, while flaying the

DMK-Congress alliance, said the upcoming elections will mark a turning point in Tamil Nadu

politics.

He said the people of Tamil Nadu have started believing in BJP and the Lok Sabha polls will mark a turning point in State’s politics.

He also exuded confidence that Tamil Nadu will become the numero uno State in India.

Addressing a massive BJP rally to mark the culmination of Party State President K.Annamalai’s

‘En Mann, En Makkal’ (My Soil, My People) state-wide padayatra that covered all the 234 Assembly

constituencies in Tamil Nadu, he said the DMK-Congress alliance had not done anything for the

welfare of the State.

He also said that late Chief Minister and AIADMK Supremo J.Jayalalithaa gave a good governance

to the state after MGR.

Taking a dig at the Opposition INDIA bloc formed with the objective to defeat the BJP in the ensuing

polls, Mr Modi said the INDIA bloc would not take up any welfare measures for Tamil Nadu.

Recalling the various schemes launched by the Centre for the State, the Prime Minister said Rs two lakh crore has been given to the State under the Mudra loan scheme and each and every youth in the state are getting progressed.

Noting that people has big belief for BJP in the State, he said even though the BJP was not in power, Tamil Nadu is in the heart of the BJP, which has been according priority for the development of the State.

Stating that the DMK-Congress combine, which was in power at the Centre from 2004 to 2014 has done nothing for the State in ten years, Mr Modi recalled the noble deeds of Bharat Ratna MGR (AIADMK Founder and former Chief Minister), who had brought various welfare schemes for the poor, including education and medical facilities.

“That’s why MGR is still being talked by the people”, Mr Modi added.

He said he was also aware as to how Ms Jayalalalithaa had close links with the people of Tamil Nadu, while taking a dig at the DMK.

He also spoke about the importance and relevance of Tamil language and the respect given to it by the Centre, including Sengol (Spectre) taken from the State that decorated the Parliament, holding of Kashi Tamil Sangamam to promote Tamil language and culture.

Hailing the Kongu Region in the Western belt of the State, where the BJP has a considerable following, Mr Modi said this Kongu region of Tamil Nadu represents India’s growth story in many ways.

“It is one of India’s most vibrant textile and industry hubs. It also contributes to our country’s wind energy capacity. this region is also known for the spirit of enterprise”, he said and added that “our risk-taking entrepreneurs and MSMEs play a role in making us the fastest growing economy.”
