A massive combing operation is underway in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district following suspicious movement along the Line of Control (LoC) in the early hours today, officials said.
They said the Army launched the operation in the Kamalkote area after troops picked up movement close to the LoC.
“As the suspicious movement was detected, a few warning shots were fired to deter the suspected infiltrators. A combing operation is currently in progress,” an official said.
Security forces remain on heightened alert along the LoC amid inputs suggesting that infiltrators may attempt to sneak in before winter sets in and snow blocks the upper reaches.
On November 8, two unidentified militants were killed when security forces foiled an infiltration attempt along the LoC in the Keran sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
