Former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday accused the BJP of “hypocrisy” after the shrine of renowned Sufi poet Baba Bulleh Shah was allegedly vandalised in Uttarakhand’s Mussoorie.
She said BJP leaders welcome Middle East Sheikhs but watch Sufi shrine vandalism with glee.
BJP leaders pose in mosques abroad and roll out red carpets for Middle Eastern sheikhs. But back home they watch with glee the shrine of Sufi poet Baba Bulleh Shah being vandalised. This hypocrisy is not accidental but deliberate,” Mehbooba said in a post on X.
“Destroying symbols of harmony is easier than answering for rising poverty, mass unemployment and a future stolen from the younger generation,” she alleged.
