The PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti is leaving for Jammu to meet Governor NN Vohra, who called her earlier to discuss the new government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Former Education Minister Naeem Akhtar said that ahead of Mehbooba’s Jammu visit, party held a detailed meet of its legislators to discuss the issues pertaining to the formation of the new government in Jammu and Kashmir. Pertinently, it was PDP’s first formal legislators meet after the demise of the chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on January 7, this year.
During the meeting which lasted for several hours and was chaired by Mehbooba, the issues pertaining to the formation of the new government were discussed at threadbare.
Later, according to Akhtar, the PDP legislators unanimously authorized the PDP chief to take final call over whether the PDP- BJP bonhomie would continue in the state or not. “Mehboobaji will appraise the Governor NN Vohra about the stand of her party vis-à-vis the new government formation. The party and the legislators have authorized her to do so,” Akhtar said.
The veteran PDP leader divulged that the PDP chief would meet the governor and convey the point of view of the PDP to him.
When asked about the demand of the rotational chief minister in the state put forth by the senior BJP leader at New Delhi, Akhtar refused to comment over the issue, saying, “let them do whatever they want.”
Akhtar was also reluctant to divulge what decision the party has taken over the government formation and whether party would take call on it in near future.(Agencies)
