Militants on Wednesday evening fired upon a police party in a Srinagar locality, officials said.
The attack took place in the Allochibagh area of Srinagar which did not cause any injury or damage, police said.
“…terrorists fired upon a vehicle bound small police party. This was effectively retaliated by the police party. Terrorists took advantage of darkness & ran away towards built up area. No injury or other damage took place,” a police tweet said, adding a cordon and a search operation has been launched in the area.
The firing incident took place at a time when security is beefed up across Kashmir due to the ongoing Amarnath pilgrimage
