MLA Saifullah Mir seeks Govt’s response over rotten meat issue in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) MLA, Saifullah Mir today raised serious concern in the Legislative Assembly over the recent reports of rotten meat allegedly being sold in local markets in Jammu and Kashmir, demanding that the government should come clean on the matter and ensure strict action against those responsible.

Raising the issue during the ongoing Assembly session, the MLA said the matter has triggered widespread public outrage.

He as per news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) urged the government to clarify whether any action has been taken against the people involved, and whether proper mechanisms are in place to prevent such incidents in the future.

“The sale of rotten meat is not just a case of negligence—it is a criminal act that directly endangers public health. The government must inform this House what steps have been taken so far and who is being held accountable,” the MLA said.

The MLA also called for fixing responsibility on officials tasked with food safety monitoring, saying that “accountability must start from the top if the system has failed to protect the people.”(KINS)
