Noida student shot in LPU violent clash

A Lovely Professional University (LPU) student sustained bullet injuries in a firing incident during violent clashes between two groups of students near Law Gate here in Punjab early Saturday, police said.

Three more students sustained minor injuries and all four were rushed to Civil hospital.

Noida’s Satyam Panwar (21), with grievous injuries was referred to Jalandhar hospital. CMO Dr Lehimber Ram said the other three Yash Rathi, Adarsh Tripathi and Prikshit were discharged after administering First Aid.

As per police reports, Panwar, who stays at PG Law Gate was strolling with others near his residence, when Jai Muni Ratnam (25) a rusticated LPU Phagwara student from Bihar, along with three unknown youths on motorcycles accosted Panwar’s group.

Following a heated exchange with Panwar, the group led by Ratnam opened fire.

Panwar sustained bullet injuries to his stomach (right side) and right arm. People from the spot took him to Civil Hospital Phagwara where doctors referred him to Jalandhar.

Two companions of attacker Jai Muni Ratnam were also injured. They were identified as Prikishat Rana (BBA LLB- IV Semester) of Karnal, Haryana; and Adarsh Tripathi (BBA LLB- IV Semester) of Madhya Pardesh.

The assailant, Ratnam, fled away from the spot, the police said.

SP Phagwara Rupinder Kaur Bhatti reached the spot with his team and recovered two shells of cartridges.

Four people, including Prikshit and Adarsh were taken into custody for further investigation.
