At least 22 people have been killed in an Israeli strike on a school in the city of Deir al Balah in the Gaza Strip, Ismail al-Thawabta, the director of the Gaza government’s media office, said on Thursday.
“Twenty two people have died in the strike of the [Israeli] occupation on a school in Deir al Balah,” al-Thawabta told Al Jazeera broadcaster.
The media office director noted that Israel’s claims on Palestinian resistance fighters’ presence in schools that now operate as centers for displaced persons did not correspond to reality.
