PDD Employees Protest for Release of Salaries

Srinagar: Police Thursday detained scores of Non-Gazetted electric employees working in PHE department who were staging protest against the state administration for failing to release their monthly wages from last several months.

According to KNS correspondent, the protesters after staging their protest in the Srinagar’s press enclave tried to march towards city centre Lal chowk.

However, police swung into action and detained scores of its members.

The protesters who were protesting under the banner of All Central Non-Gazetted Electrical Employees Union (ACNGEEU) were raising slogans against the government and were demanding release of their pending salaries.

Earlier, while talking to KNS said that they have been ignored by the satte government as after serving the department in every aspect, their salaries have not been released from several months due to which they are facing tremendous hardships.

Threatening to launch Valley wide agitation, the protesters said that the government should release their wages at earliest or should get ready to face agitation.

“We are working in the field with honestly and are doing our jobs with hardwork but despite that the authorities seems reluctant to give us a happy time as neither we have been regularized nor anyone among us received any salary from last couple of months,” he said.

They later appealed the higher ups to look into the matter and asked them to release their pending salaries at earliest.

Meanwhile, police bundled many protesters and whisked them away from the spot. (KNS)
