Line was defunct from last four years, Chief Engineer says TIC constituted, will get report soon

Srinagar: A lineman of Power Development Department (PDD) was electrocuted on Thursday in Bemina area of Srinagar while repairing the line, which was defunct from past four years.
According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the lineman identified as Fazil Ahmad Magrey of Chadoora area of Budgam was repairing a line that was defunct since last four years.
Jammu and Kashmir Power Employees Coordination Committee (JKPECC) members said that 11000 volt line was damaged and defunct since last four years in Bemina division four. “The lineman along with the other was repairing it yesterday at around 10:30 AM, following which he got electrocuted and suffered grievous injuries,” they said.
The members questioned about the power supply on the defunct line, saying that it’s the negligence of concerned officials that the lineman has got electrocuted. They also demanded action in this regard.
The lineman is currently undergoing treatment at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS). The wife of lineman and his two sons are demanded action against the officials involved in negligence that led to Magrey’s electrocution.
Magrey was working as Daily Wager in PDD since long and his services were regularized in the year 2013.
Meanwhile, Chief Engineer PDD, Aijaz Ahmad Dar told KNO that to clear the ambiguity, the department has constituted a Technical Investigation Committee (TIC) headed by Exen in this regard.
He said that he has directed SE to constitute a committee, which has now been set up. Dar further stated that he will seek the report from the committee very soon.
