Congress General Secretary and candidate from Dooru Assembly constituency in Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, on Wednesday said that people are overwhelmingly voting in the first phase of election on Wednesday on issues like statehood, land rights and jobs.
“I have voted today with the intention to change the 10-year-old poor rule of Delhi in the Jammu and Kashmir,” Mir told media persons after casting his vote in a polling station of Dooru assembly segment on Wednesday.
“The voting will be overwhelming today and the people will vote with the thinking to bring back statehood, land rights and jobs that have been snatched from them by the central government,” the former Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Chief said.
Voting is being held in the first phase of elections to 16 assembly constituencies of Kashmir valley and eight constituencies in the Jammu region on Wednesday.
