PM Modi pays tribute to armed forces on first anniversary of Operation Sindoor

‎‎ Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hailed the bravery and precision of India’s armed forces on the first anniversary of “Operation Sindoor,” describing the military action as a defining example of the country’s uncompromising stance against terrorism and its growing defence capabilities.

‎In a message posted on X, Modi said the operation, launched in response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, demonstrated “unparalleled courage, precision and resolve” by Indian forces. “They gave a fitting response to those who dared to attack innocent Indians at Pahalgam. The entire nation salutes our forces for their valour,” the Prime Minister wrote.

‎Recalling the operation a year after it was carried out, Modi said “Operation Sindoor reflected India’s firm response against terrorism and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding national security.”

He added that the mission showcased the “professionalism, preparedness and coordinated strength” of the armed forces and highlighted the increasing integration among the Army, Navy and Air Force in conducting strategic operations.

‎The Prime Minister also linked the success of the operation to India’s expanding focus on defence self-reliance. “It showcased the growing jointness among our forces and underlined the strength that India’s quest for self-reliance in the defence sector has brought to our national security,” he said.

‎Operation Sindoor was launched following the deadly terror strike in Pahalgam that left several civilians dead and triggered nationwide outrage. The operation was widely viewed as a calibrated and forceful response aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure and sending a strong message against cross-border terrorism. While the government had maintained operational secrecy around several aspects of the mission, officials at the time described it as one of the most coordinated anti-terror responses in recent years.

‎Modi reiterated that India’s determination to combat terrorism remained unchanged. “Today, a year later, we remain as steadfast as ever in our resolve to defeat terrorism and destroy its enabling ecosystem,” he said.

‎The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid continued emphasis by the Centre on strengthening national security architecture, enhancing indigenous defence manufacturing under the “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” initiative, and improving synergy between the armed services through integrated military planning and modernisation efforts.
