Kangan: Police claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle illicit liquor by recovering five bottles of liquor from Ganiwan area on the Srinagar-Leh highway.

“Acting on specific information a police party recovered and seized five bottles of illicit liquor from Ganiwan area which was dumped there" SHO Gund Manzoor Ahmed said.
He said that the accused bottlegger Ibrahim Bokda who has been identified by some locals is absconding , adding that police is on job to arrest him.

He said that In this regard a case FIR No 28/ 2015 US 48 (A) Excise Act has been registered and investigation is going on, he added.
Meanwhile locals have urged police to act tough against such miscreants who are involved in such social evils.
