Police sets up high-rise observation posts along Amarnath Yatra route in Anantnag

With the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra set to commence on July 2, Police in Anantnag district has set up strategically located high-rise observation posts along the pilgrimage route and at other vulnerable locations to ensure a safe and secure Yatra.

Police said the high-rise observation posts, commonly known as Machan Morchas, reflects the proactive approach of Anantnag Police in maintaining a vigilant watch over the pilgrimage route and strengthening the overall security grid.

These elevated deployment points provide security personnel with an enhanced field of vision, enabling continuous surveillance and close monitoring of the surrounding areas.

The Machan Morchas have been positioned to facilitate effective area domination, early detection of suspicious activity, and swift response to any emerging situation. Trained personnel deployed at these vantage points remain on constant alert, ensuring comprehensive coverage and coordinated security arrangements, police said.

Meanwhile, as part of the security preparations for the Yatra, a joint mock drill by Police along with Army and CRPF was conducted in Awantipora sub district.

The dill, police said, was to assess operational preparedness and emergency response capabilities.

Police said the exercise involved the simulation of various contingency scenarios and was aimed at testing coordination, communication, and response mechanisms among the participating forces. Senior officers supervised the drill and reviewed the preparedness of the deployed personnel.

Authorities have put in place comprehensive arrangements for pilgrims.
