A man from Punjab was shot dead on Wednesday evening by unidentified militants—the first such targeted killing in the Valley this year.
The police identified the victim as Amrit Pal, a resident of Amritsar.
Police said terrorists fired upon a non-local identified as Amritpal Singh,a resident of Amritsar at Shaheed Gunj Srinagar, who succumbed to the injuries. One more person is grievously injured and evacuated for medical attention.
Soon after the shooting incident, the area was jointly cordoned off to trace the attackers.
“Terrorists fired upon a non-local identified as Amritpal Singh, a resident of Amritsar at Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, who succumbed to the injuries. One more person is grievously injured and evacuated for medical attention. The area has been cordoned off. Further details shall follow,” the police said in a post on X.
