Rahul attacks PM over ‘black magic’ remark

Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Thursday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a day after the latter tore into the grand old party with his “black magic” remark over August 5 protest, in which its leader wore black dresses against inflation.
In an apparent reference to the Congress, PM Modi while addressing a programme via video conferencing on Wednesday said, “There was an attempt to spread ‘black magic’ mentality on August 5. Those who think that by wearing black clothes, their period of ‘despair’ will end are unaware that irrespective of the black magic and their belief in ‘superstition’, the public’s trust will never be restored in them.”
“To hide your black deeds, you (Modi) are using words like ‘black magic’. Stop lowering the dignity of the post you are holding,” the Congress MP from Wayanad wrote in a tweet.
Citing inflation and unemployment, which the Congress has been accusing the ruling dispensation that it failed to address, the former party president said the PM will have to answer on issues concerning the public.
