The death toll in the Ramban road accident swelled to five while ten passengers suffered injuries when a tempo traveler they were travelling in met with an accident and plunged into a nullah on Thursday evening in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that a tempo traveler on way towards Jammu carrying 15 passengers met with an accident and plunged into the nullah near Kela Morh on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in Ramban district.
“There were 15 passengers in the vehicles out of which four died on the spot while one succumbed on way to the hospital and ten suffered injuries,” police said.
Police, locals and army immediately swung into action and launched the rescue operation.
They evacuated the injured and shifted to the district hospital.
“Five of the injured were referred to the GMC Srinagar and five to GMC Jammu,” Mohita Sharma, SSP Ramban said.
