‘Surgeries to continue till September 13’

 The Rotary international has conducted 819 Surgeries in the last six days in South Kashmir and they will continue to conduct surgeries till September 13.

Details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that the surgeries are being performed in different government hospitals of South Kashmir and around 2000 patients are registered for surgeries

Details reveal that 119 surgeries were conducted on September 04 at District Hospitals of Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam and GMC associated hospital Janglat Mandi Anantnag followed by 155 on September 05, 141 on September 06,  131 on September 07, 134 on September 08 and 139 on September 09.

The type of surgeries include general surgeries, ENT, Opthalmic, orthopaedic and gynae Surgeries.

Dr Girish Gune Chairman-Kashmir Mega surgical project said that last year a Kashmir Mega Surgical Project was held in North Kashmir in four places in Baramulla, Kupwara, Sopore and Ganderbal.

“This Mega Surgical Project was highly successful with the fact that 2500 beneficiaries got operated in nine days. The Government provided all the infrastructure for surgeries including theatres, hospitals etc. Moreover extra paramedical staff, nursing and theatre assistant staff and local medical consultants & Government Doctors were made available to take care of patients’ pre & post operatively,” he said.

With the help of a team of 42 Rotary Volunteer Surgeons, operations were performed in specialities of Ophthalmology, General & Laparoscopic Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic Surgery, ENT Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Urology, he said.

This year, we are conducting a Mega Surgical Project of the Government of Kashmir and Rotary International in South Kashmir from 3rd September to 13th September. The Surgeries are performed at Government Hospitals in Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam in specialties of Ophthalmology. General & Laparoscopic Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedic Surgery. ENT Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Paediatric Surgery and Cancer Surgery.

“Almost 2000 patients are registered for this Mega Surgical Camp and around 550 surgeries have been conducted already. We are extremely thankful to the Government of Kashmir for showing this trust in Rotary for this humanitarian service,” he added
